​The AHCA/NCAL National Quality Awards Program is a progressive program that is based on the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence. Participants move from the Bronze level, to Silver, and then ultimately to the Gold.

i  Skilled Nursing Care Center (SNCC) is the same as Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). SNCCs serve individuals who have increasingly complex medical conditions and extensive needs for care and support with activities of daily living. Count of SNCCs from May 2015 Nursing Home Compare, and bed count from June 2015 release of CASPER. 

ii  May 2015 Nursing Home Compare data mapped to the 6-category NCH Urban/Rural Classification Scheme. 

iii  MDS assessments in calendar year 2014 for all payers. 

iv  Stays identified using MDS assessments, where long stay is defined as a stay lasting ≥100 days. 

v  Number of individuals being served in a center based on the census count on the first day of the annual survey. 

vi  BLS Occupation Employment Statistics for May 2014. Healthcare practitioners and healthcare support workers include physicians, nurses, 
aides, assistants, psychologists, counselors, etc. (SOC occupation codes 29 and 31). Administrative workers include management, office, IT support, etc. (SOC occupation codes 11, 13, 15, 33, 41, 43, 51). Ancillary workers include food preparation, building and grounds cleaning and maintenance, personal care, transportation, education, etc. (SOC occupation codes 19, 21, 25, 27, 35, 37, 39, 47, 49, 53).
